National Bilingual Materials Development Center, 1978. — 313 p.106 - of 351 This conversational English-Alutiiq dictionary is intended to be used as a guide to those words actively used in Alutiiq and their conversational equivalents. The Alutiiq language, formerly referred to as Sugpiaq, Suk Eskimo, Chugach Eskimo and Pacific Gulf Yupik, is not the language of the people of the Aleutian Chain but rather a dialect spoken on the Kenai Peninsula. In addition to a brief history of the development of the language, the dictionary includes an introduction to the alphabet which employs the same graphic symbols as English but with some differences in the sound/symbol correspondences.
